A new parking website makes it easier for drivers to find parking in Chatswood, reducing congestion and making trips more efficient.
All council car parks in Chatswood CBD have been mapped on https://chatswood.spotparking.com.au/ where drivers can enter their time of arrival, length of their intended stay and location they want to park.
The website then provides options for parking, making journeys more efficient and direct.
As well as on street parks, users can search for motorbike, car share or disabled spaces, taxi zones and off street parking such as at The Concourse or Council’s Albert Avenue car park. The website also maps school zones, no stopping, drop-off and loading zones.
Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said the free service is on trial until the end of August and encouraged visitors to try it out.
“We hope to reduce congestion as drivers won’t have to circle looking for car parks. With one quick look at the website, drivers can save themselves time in knowing where the different types of parking zones are in the CBD.”
“By giving drivers access to a simple, colour coded map, they know exactly where and when they can park legally at any time of the day – it will help drivers avoid fines as well.”
During the trial, Council will collect transport data to gauge its impact.
“We’ll consider whether it’s worthwhile to move into another trial or even add historical data so drivers know which times of day the spaces are full.”
