A new ‘user-pays’ system is being proposed by motoring groups for drivers on Sydney’s congested roads. The system would be sensitive to time of day, weight of vehicle and location (and possibly other dimensions).

Initially, there is talk of 20c per kilometer charge. This could soon rise.

This  London-style congestion tax would be part of a Universal Road User Charging model the federal government is being asked to consider to fund infrastructure.
